It is NOT the seat height that is the issue.

It is the height of the center of gravity of the bike as that provides the length of the lever (CG to contact patch) the wind is working on.

The KTM 690 has a very high CG as compared to the FZ-09

That's what I was thinking.

I'd be very surprised if this bike comes stock with Ohlins and Brembo.

The KTM 690 comes with very good components from name brand folks like Ohlins and Brembo. These are NOT the top of the line racing components but a lower grade component, still much better made than many other OEM components.

The KTM comes with WP suspension, for 2012 it was dumbed down to a price point and is no longer adjustable. The pre 2012's were fully adjustable front and rear, but that bike cost over $10,000 new. Still, good quality suspension, lacking adjustability (aside from preload, I think). Not sprung heavily enough for some riders. WP is a quality brand name.

The seat looks like it would be really comfortable.

The duke is a thumper! Not made for cruising. The fz09 is seems it would be happier at highway speeds

I was wrong then.

Good for KTM.

According to another poster in 2012 KTM dumbed down the suspension so the current bike might not have such good suspension.

The one my stepson had was an '08 and it was a blast and had all sorts of suspension adjustments. My stepson and I spent quite a bit of time tinkering with the suspension for him.
