Long story short here... the 2009-13 FZ6R use the same filter (my other ride). When I call my local Cycle Gear they didn't have the bike in file and couldn't cross reference the Yamaha PN#... so I had to do the work.

I think for the beginning we all going to have to pitch in a bit as we go until everyone has there parts list updated.

Plenty of options here. Are they all basically interchangeable or are some of them much better quality than others?

Oil filter is an oil filter. Oil filter and oil is like politic and religion... endless debate of what's best LOL. It's all about preference.

I used the cheapest oil filter I could find with Rotella 15W40 dino oil for now. Since I change oil at 150 miles and will do it again at 600, 1000 miles. I'll swap to full syth at 1000 miles and I like to use the Mobile oil filter. LOL

If a fram 6017 fits so does a boshe 3300. Use them on my goldwing and my retired (written off) Cbf 600sa. It also fits Cbrs and the 750 shadow

Thanks for putting the list together. Where did you do your cross-reference?

There are several factors to consider an oil filter as an equivalent:
Thread size
Body diameter
Body length
Gasket/o-ring location and dimensions (diameter and width)
Check valve or no check valve
Check valve pressure

Does the list you assembled consider the same check valve configuration and pressure as the FZ-09 stock oil filter?

That seems to be one area missed by a lot of cross reference lists on there on the net.
