K&N oil filter

Looking for opinions here...

I changed oil for my 600 mile service today, of course all dealers in the area are closed on Sunday and most on Monday too, so I went with Mobil 1 4T 10W 40, full synthetic. Oil filter is a K&N. (KN204) All auto parts stores, this is the only one carried for the FZ-09, in my area.

That being said, I've grown a little concerned as I have been told that K&N is not a very good oil filter.

Has anyone else used this filter, and what were your experiences, good or bad.

K&N is one of the better filters made. One to stay away from is FRAM

We use those on all of our bikes here including the AMA bikes Brian races. You should have no reason to worry about K&N quality. We'll be putting one on our shop giveaway FZ-09 as soon as it's ready for an oil change.

K&N is the best, use them on everything on my cars, bikes, trucks. Both their oil and air filters are great!

I've never used K&N personally. I usually use HiFlo and have had real good luck with them. Numbers are similar to K&N. I know people who use and swear by K&N.

I have a friend who happened to have a filter blow apart on him while he was doing a track day. He is still limping and probably will be for a long time. He is still doing the track days!

I read somewhere that K&N and HiFlo are the same filter other than K&N having a nut welded onto the back. Some people get all excited about how much extra that nut costs. In my experience it cost me less than 25 cents extra, though surely some people try to gouge for the K&N name.
